John Charles Interior Design Services
There are basically two types of Interior Designers; those who will charge lavishly for their time (an hourly rate, or per design), both when they are with you and while they are researching your project, and those who make their living from what they supply to you. At John Charles Interiors we fall into the latter category and only make a a small charge for our initial expenses (see below).
We are of course always pleased to welcome you to our fully equipped and recently updated showroom in Edgbaston, Birmingham, where you'll find a vast array of pattern books and swatches, and where you are free to browse at your leisure.
We do find, however, that most of our clients benefit from our consultation service. Our service starts with John or another of our designers visiting you at home to view the room or rooms you are planning to change. This enables them to take in the aspect and available natural light of the room(s), determine the initial measurements and assess your needs, taking into account any existing items you wish to incorporate into your new scheme.
Back in the showroom, we then work on our proposal, which is presented to you at a mutually convenient time. We don't use CAD (Computer Aided Design) as we much prefer you to see and feel the proposed materials themselves rather than show flat images on a screen.
We like to prepare at least three schemes per room, which can then be modified if necessary on presentation. If, as happens on rare occasions, you are not completely happy with our first set of proposed schemes, we will be pleased to prepare and present further schemes, based on the feedback from our initial presentation.
We do not charge an hourly rate for this service, or indeed anything other than a small fee to partially cover our initial expenses. This is currently £75.00 per room.
We have good, experienced designers who will help you to achieve the results you're looking for.
We will spend time with you, ask the right questions and, most importantly, listen to you.
We believe that our role is not to impose our tastes on you, nor to turn your home into a sterile fashion statement, but to take your own vision and turn it into reality. We know how to interpret your ideas and add that certain something that will make all the difference.
We can work within your existing style guidelines to bring you a new fresh look, one that works alongside and enhances your existing decor, or, should you prefer, we can create an altogether new feel to your home.
For example our room treatments can include: Curtains, Pelmets, Poles, Blinds and Shutters, Paint and Wallcoverings, Soft Furnishings, Carpets, Rugs and Wood Floors, Furniture and Upholstery, and Lighting.
Good design deserves good installation. No matter how fabulous your chosen fabrics look in the book, how sumptuous is your prospective carpet, or how vibrant your wallpaper, the success of the project and the desired end result rely almost entirely on the quality of the making and fitting.
Take a look a few examples of our work: Living Rooms, Dining Rooms, Kitchens, Halls and Stairs, Bedrooms, Nursery, Home Offices and Conservatories
We have a dedicated, knowledgeable and long serving team of makers and fitters whose sole aim is to deliver excellence in their respective field.
